FOR NEW REFEREES 2025
Touch Football Australia
The Affiliate Referee Course is a face-to-face course designed to equip referees with the foundational knowledge and essential skills to officiate in Participation environments. To foster a life-long love of Touch Football, referees in the participation environment will focus on officiating environments that are fun, inclusive, and safe, regardless of athletes’ age or ability.
Course Format: Three (3) hours face-to-face Pre-Course Requirements: Nil Minimum Age: Turning 12 in the calendar year Key Outcomes:
- Officiate in environments focussed on fun, inclusivity and safety regardless of age or ability to support the development of players
- Basic understanding of the rules of the game
- Ensure that officials foster a life-long love of the game

CONTACTING FOR PREVIOUS SEASON REFEREES- We will continue with the whatsapp group chat for all info during the season. Please only use this chat to access the rostering and updates from the club. If you have a personnel issue or need to make changes a direct message to Georgia or Gette is preferred.
Gette Randall is our new referee co-ordinator for Friday nights. All refs will be put in a Whatsapp chat with Gette for rostering purposes. Please email her with any queries- competitionsnbt@gmail.com
ON GAME NIGHT-
Dont forget your whistle! We will have some to purchase if you don’t have one. New referees will receive a whistle on registration to the course.
Please be at your game 10 minutes before your game. If your running late message Gette or Georgia so we know. Referees on standby either sit at the desk area or will be allocated a game to buddy ref. Please do not wander off as you’re also getting paid to be on standby.

For all 2024 season referees who would like to return for Friday night (or Monday nights) 2025 competition please make contact with Georgia. There is an EOI in the NEWS section or can be found on our face book page.
If we need more refs we will consider hosting another Level 1 course.

PAYMENT INCENTIVE FOR SEASON 2025- for any referee who refs 20 games by round 5 they will receive a $50 cash bonus. If your a first year referee your pay rate is $12 for the Under 7 and Under 9 teams.
All Under 15 boys games referees will be paid a flat rate of $20.(buddy ref $16)
Level 1 first year refs are on $12- a buddy ref game is worth $10
Level 1 2nd year- $16, a buddy ref game is $12.
Level 2 refs- $20, buddy ref is $16.
Standby- $10 but you must be near the desk while your on standby.
rep trial referees- you will be paid $25 per session for an age group.
Pays- Are done every fortnight. For example Round 1 & 2 will be paid the week leading up to round 3.
(if your name is not on the roster I didn’t get a text from you with your availability or It may be a case of me having to share the referee duties around)
GAME TIMES FOR SEASON 2025
All games are straight 25 minute games, touch down turn around rules. Under 7s will not do this, the manager or coach can toss a coin to see which way the team runs. If the referee feels they need a break blow the whistle and just take 2 minutes so they can rest and have a team talk.
All referees please report to the desk at least 10 minutes prior to your game. Some of you will be buddy refereeing which means we do not want 2 of you on the field at once, you must interchange. We will explain on your arrival. Drop off rule will also apply which we will remind everyone of.
IF YOUR RUNNING LATE- Please text us ASAP
STAND BY REFEREES- Often we roster referees on as our reserves incase somebody is running late or gets hurt. You still get paid to be on ‘stand by’ so please don’t wonder away from the desk area. If you arrive and don’t see your name on the roster but it was on the website please come and find Nicole.
- Any referees who are interested in going up to the Northern Conference JSC 2026 in February please let me know. We also have gala days around Sydney leading up to this tournament that we need refs for. If your keen its great money and will improve your refereeing skills. It is for rep teams from Under 10s to Under 18s.
referees- If your not on the roster for the week you will definitely get a game the following week. We have done the roster based on who texts first. If your name is not here it is because a message was not received before Wednesday morning. Please let us know If we have made a mistake anywhere!!
What to wear- Your own tshirt and shorts, you will be supplied with a referee vest for your game. Please wear football boots or similar to referee in.
If you’ve discovered you have a game that clashed with your referee duty please send me a text ASAP so I can replace you.
