With the wet weather around, we’d like to remind all members of our key policies and procedures when it comes to game cancellations or delays.
Extreme Weather
Games will not proceed in heavy rain, hail, lightning, or thunderstorms. These conditions require immediate suspension or postponement for everyone’s safety.
Lightning & Thunderstorms
If lightning or thunder is present, play must be stopped. A good rule of thumb is to measure the time between a lightning flash and the thunder clap — if it’s too close, play will not continue until conditions improve.
Council Closures
If the council closes the fields due to wet weather, all games on those fields are automatically cancelled, regardless of other conditions.
Decision-Making
• Northern Beaches council usually makes the final call on field closures.
•Updates are often provided around 3:00pm on game days.
•In some cases, Northern Beaches Touch may make the call, but council decisions always take priority.
Where to Find Updates
Please check your local council’s wet weather line or website for the latest field status. You can also follow updates from our club and association pages.
If Fields Are Open
If fields remain open, games will go ahead, even in light rain. It’s then up to individual players to decide if they wish to play.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation in keeping players, referees, and spectators safe.
